Sign Production Specialist – Wide-Format Printing

You may be the second or third person on the production team at your current sign shop—experienced, dependable, and good at what you do—but with limited room to lead or advance. Saltwater Signworks offers the opportunity to take greater ownership, help lead the production floor, and grow with a young, expanding company.
We are hiring an experienced, hands-on Sign Production Specialist for our Wilmington, NC shop. This is not an entry-level or graphic-design-only position. The heart of the job is preparing production files, running RIP software, operating our wide-format printer, and turning approved artwork into accurate, high-quality, installation-ready signage.
What You’ll Do
- Help plan and prioritize daily production so jobs move efficiently and stay on schedule.
- Prepare files in Adobe Illustrator, including scaling, bleeds, cut paths, paneling, nesting, and print templates.
- Operate wide-format latex printers and RIP software, managing queues, media, profiles, nesting, and output settings. Our shop uses HP Latex printers and Onyx RIP.
- Review files and job specifications before printing to prevent errors and rework.
- Complete vinyl finishing as needed, including weeding, masking, laminating, mounting, trimming, and wrap-panel preparation.
- Perform final quality checks for color, dimensions, alignment, cut accuracy, and finish quality.
- Coordinate with sales, design, and installation to resolve questions before production.
- Help maintain an organized shop, improve workflow, and support or train teammates as the company grows.
What We’re Looking For
- At least two years of recent, hands-on experience in sign production, wide-format graphics, or commercial printing.
- Ability to independently prepare production files and operate a wide-format printer and RIP workflow.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for production file setup—not only graphic design.
- Experience with vinyl finishing, measurements, color consistency, and quality control.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot routine equipment or workflow issues.
- A dependable, organized, detail-focused team member who communicates well and takes ownership of the finished product.
Preferred experience includes HP Latex printers, Onyx RIP, plotters, laminators, rollover/application tables, vehicle-wrap production, color matching, CoreBridge, and guiding or training teammates.

This is a full-time, in-person production-floor position in Wilmington, NC. The work involves standing, bending, reaching, handling sign materials and roll media, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
